The Porsche Cayenne has seen some powerful iterations in recent times, especially with this third-generation model. But never in the history of its nameplate, has it been as powerful as the new Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid. The formula, though, is rather straightforward: retain the V8 goodness with some tuning, but also plonk in a bigger battery for improved range… and tune the electric motor as well!
There’s just a small evolution in design, which has had an equally small impact, but the changes are notable nonetheless. The fascia has been tweaked with a bigger grille and reworked LED matrix headlights.
The rear of a Cayenne has always been on the busier side of things but the styling is clean here. A sleek LED taillight runs across the width of the tailgate, finished with quad exhaust pipes sitting at the bottom. Overall, the body and silhouette is undeniable Cayenne, but the elements within it give it a fresher look.
There’s also a standard GT package available with the coupe, with black accents all around the exterior, giving it a meaner demeanour in the process.
The cockpit leans heavily on the digital element with three screens in total, the passenger display being an optional extra. The gear lever is now located on the dashboard, freeing up more space around the centre console.
A few standard creature comforts include a heated steering wheel, 14-way adjustable leather comfort seats, a 12.3-inch infotainment system, and a 12.6-inch digital driver’s display.

The hybrid powertrain unites a potent 4-litre twin-turbo V8 with a single electric motor, that delivers on both exhilaration and environmental consciousness. This system now sports a larger battery (25.9kWh) that translates to a claimed all-electric range of 82km. With an impressive combined output of 739PS and 950Nm, the SUV rockets from 0 to 100 kmph in just 3.7 seconds, reaching a top speed of 295 kmph.
Adaptive air suspension is standard, which allows adjustment of rebound and compression settings for the suspension. Of course, there’s also a bunch of other wizardry like torque vectoring, dynamic chassis control and rear axle steering, some of which are available as options, that further aid in offering a poised dynamic ride and handling.

Porsche has already started taking bookings for the Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid in markets abroad, and could bring it to India as well in the time to come. The standard iterations of the SUV are sold on our shores, prices for which start from Rs 1.36 crore, so expect the prices for the new variant (if it comes here) to carry a significant premium over it. It’ll rival the likes of the BMW XM, Range Rover Sport, and Audi RS Q8.
