Seems like Saina Nehwal not only has a few athletic skills but also a good taste in cars and her new Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 4MATIC+ Coupe is a proof of that

Indian badminton player Saina Nehwal joins the long list of celebrities with a Mercedes-AMG in their garage. Saina’s whip comes directly from the folks at Affalterbach, who worked on this beautiful Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 4MATIC+ Coupe, specced in an Emerald Green hue.

The British green shade almost gives out a black colour feel, but look closely and the deep green flecks will become apparent. The horizontal slats for the grille and alloys use a silver finish to contrast this Emerald Green colour. And while the interior wasn’t papped, we can see black seats from the reel below, which hints at the two-tone black Nappa leather upholstery – one of two upholstery (truffle brown/black) options offered with the GLE 53 4MATIC+ Coupe.

As for the specs, the GLE 53 4MATIC+ Coupe comes packing a 3-litre inline-six turbo-petrol engine, which puts out 435PS and 520Nm to all four wheels using the all-wheel drive 4MATIC+ system and a nine-speed automatic transmission. It has got enough kick for a 0-100kmph time of just 5.3 seconds, which is also partially down to the 22PS and 250Nm boost from the 48-volt mild-hybrid system. There’s also a more powerful V8-powered version available with the GLE 63 variant.

The standard GLE has received a facelift and has already been launched in India with prices starting from Rs 96.4 lakh (ex-showroom). The updated AMG-spec GLE models should also make its way to our shores in the time to come. Until then, this AMG 53 4MATIC+ Coupe is your only performance option if you want to go for the GLE model. It’ll set you back Rs 1.7 crore (ex-showroom) before any options are slapped onto the car. It rivals the Porsche Cayenne Coupe and Audi RS Q8.

Prior to this purchase, the badminton player was known to have a liking for BMW cars and was even handed a 3 Series by Sachin Tendulkar himself, after she bagged her first medal back in 2012.
