JSW MG Motor India recently showcased the new generation ZS HEV, known as the Astor in the Indian market, at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. Despite that, the brand has released a model year update for the on-sale Astor. It has been priced between Rs 9.99 lakh and Rs 18.35 lakh (ex-showroom). The MY2025 update brings merely a handful of standard features to two lower- and mid-spec variants of the SUV with a price hike, while everything else remains unchanged. That said, the 2025 Astor is available in six variants, namely Sprint, Shine, Select, Sharp Pro and Savvy Pro. Now, take a look at a picture gallery of the updated compact SUV.
The overall design of the 2025 Astor has been carried over from the previous model. At the front, it features the same hexagonal grille with shiny chrome inserts, which MG calls a celestial grill with cosmic lines. A conventional headlight setup, dubbed Hawkeye, with integrated daytime running lights, and fog lamps.
The side profile also does not see any changes with the turbine-style 17-inch alloy wheels have been retained. At the back, the styling of the taillamps and bumper has been carried forward too. Meanwhile, MG offers the 2025 Astor in six colour options: Starry Black, Candy White, Glaze Red, Aurora Silver, and Havana Grey, along with a dual-tone white and black.
The model year update has not brought any styling changes to the cabin. However, the Shine and Select variants now get more standard in-cabin features than before. The Shine variant now comes with a panoramic sunroof and six speakers, whereas the Select variant now boasts leatherette seats in Ivory theme and six airbags.
Furthermore, the interior features the same colour theme depending on the variants, plus the fully digital display and touchscreen infotainment are also unchanged. On a positive side, the i-Smart connected car system gets a new iteration update.
The MY2025 model year update has not given new features to the SUV. It retains the same a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 7-inch all-digital instrument cluster, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a panoramic sunroof, front seat ventilation, a wireless charging pad, connected car tech with over 80 functions, auto-dimming IRVM, electronically adjustable driver’s seat, the digital key with key sharing function, OTA updates, and heated ORVMs.
Safety kit of the 2025 Astor comprises ADAS with 14 functions, hill hold assist, hill descent control, electronic stability programme (ESP), six airbags, a 360-degree camera, an electronic parking brake with auto-hold, telematics, tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), and rear-wheel discs.
Powering the 2025 Astor are the same 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 140 PS and 220 Nm and a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol motor that generates 110 PS and 144 Nm. The turbo-petrol unit comes with a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission, while the 1.5-litre NA engine gets a 5-speed manual and a CVT automatic transmission.
The 2025 MG Astor has been priced from Rs 9.99 lakh to Rs 18.35 lakh (ex-showroom).
The 2025 MG Astor continues to take on the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Honda Elevate, Skoda Kushaq, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun, Tata Curvv, and Citroen Basalt.
Although MG has made the 2025 Astor more appealing with a handful of additional standard features, the launch of the all-new ZS HEV available in the international markets would have been a compelling and a fresh breath of air, particularly with its hybrid powertrain. However, the new model may not come until after the second half of this year.
With the new MY2025 updates, would you buy the MG Astor over its competitors? Let us know in the comments.
