Following its streak of updating its existing portfolio, Jawa Yezdi has launched the 2023 Jawa 42 and Yezdi Roadster with updates to the design, hardware, and even ergonomics of the bikes.
The new Jawa 42 Dual Tone is priced at Rs 1,98,142, whereas the new Yezdi Roadster costs Rs 2,08,829. The new models will be sold alongside the existing ones, and interestingly, the prices for the standard Jawa 42 has been reduced by Rs 6,000 and starts at Rs 1,89,142.
The Jawa 42 now comes draped in dual-tone colour schemes – Cosmic Rock, Infinity Black, Starship Blue, and Celestial Copper.
It features clear-lens turn indicators, shorter fenders, and a redesigned fuel tank along with diamond-cut alloy wheels.
Even the engine and exhaust bits feature a new raven texture finish, along with a new bash plate. The seat has also been redesigned.
Both the 42 and Roadster get new handlebar-mounted mirrors, and handlebar grips.
The Yezdi Roadster gets an even more wholesome update with revised ergonomics featuring a taller handlebar, and footpegs set forward by 155mm. This should make the rider’s triangle a bit more relaxed.
Similar to the 42, the Yezdi Roadster gets diamond-cut alloys, a Raven texture finish over the engine and exhaust, but the exhausts are new.
The Roadster is available in new colours – Rush Hour Red, Forest Green, and Lunar White, and Shadow Grey (single-tone)
Apart from the updates mentioned above, both bikes remain unchanged. So the Jawa 42 is powered by the same OBD-2 compliant 294.7cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine, producing 27.3PS and 26.8Nm. And the Yezdi Roadster gets the OBD-2 compliant 334cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine, producing 29.5PS and 28.9Nm. The underpinnings and rest of the hardware remain the same as the existing models. Interestingly, the existing models will be sold alongside the new updated ones, giving the customers an even wider range to choose from.
At a premium of Rs 2,687, the Yezdi Roadster now offers more upright and relaxed ergonomics, along with some functional hardware updates that should make it a more wholesome product. On the other hand, the new Jawa 42 is Rs 9,000 more expensive than the existing models (which have gotten Rs 6,000 less expensive) and offers new hardware and sporty new colour schemes.
Considering the sizeable updates, the premium makes quite some sense, and if you are not convinced with the new models, then you could just opt for the existing models that will be on sale as well.
