Hero Electric has launched the next generation of the Optima CX 2.0, CX 5.0 and the NYX e-scooters and for 2023; the trio look fresh. While we do not have an exact list of what’s new on the three e-scooters, some changes are more visible than others.
What’s The Price? Who Are Its Rivals?
With prices for all three e-scooters varying between Rs 85,000 and Rs 1.30 lakh, within the electric scooter space, the Hero Electric Optima CX2.0 and NYX is naturally rivaled by the Ampere Magnus EX, but also can face competition from petrol powered scooters like the TVS scooty Pep Plus, Honda Dio and Honda Activa 6G.
That said, the Optima CX 5.0 which we are assuming will be the most expensive of the trio will be dipping its toes in a territory dominated by the TVS iQube, Ather 450 Plus and Ola S1 e-scooters.
How Many Variants Are There?
The format is simple, in the current lineup Hero Electric has two versions of the Optima CX e-scooters - single battery and double batteries. Now the single battery variant will be called the CX 2.0 and the double battery pack will be called the CX 5.0. Meanwhile the NYX continues to be called the NYX.
What’s New?
Among the most visible of changes are the introduction of LED lighting and alloy wheels, however, Hero Electric has also also stated that these e-scooters will be “ushering in a new era of smart-connected mobility”, which suggests the three scooters will have bluetooth connectivity.
The price has gone up significantly for all three e-scooters and we are sincerely hoping the new offerings on all three e-scooters are more than just a cosmetic job and a few bluetooth enabled features. We have reached out to the brand for more information on what’s new and what remains unchanged, as soon as we have more clarity we shall update this space with the relevant information.
ZigSays
On the face of it appears as if Hero Electric is looking to enter the premium electric scooter segment by offering more on its high speed e-scooters like the Optima and NYX. Coincidentally, with this update Hero Electric will for the first time surpass the Rupee one lakh costing for any of its products.
