CES, also known as Consumer Electronics Show, is one place where carmakers show their coolest innovations and geeky stuff. In the latest instalment, there were some super cool cars and certain new features, many of which will certainly be found in production models.
Here are the top five highlights that caught our fancy:
Mercedes-EQ Vision EQXX
The Mercedes-EQ Vision EQXX pushes the boundaries of EVs as it’s claimed to do 1000km! Sure, its 201PS output might not set the paper on fire, but its engineering and innovations do. The super low drag coefficient of 0.17cD helps it to slice through the air better, while the solar panels atop the roof deliver another 25km of range. Also, there is an active rear spoiler and elements on the front bumper, to help it be more aerodynamic, which in turn, results in better range.
Sony Vision-S
Playstations, TVs, electronic appliances, and now electric cars. The Vision-S SUV, Sony’s second EV after the sedan, has been unveiled, and it looks futuristic. It’s a three-row family electric SUV, and if you’re an avid Playstation enthusiast, you’ll be happy to know that you can play games in it. But is it coming to production anytime soon? We answer it here.
BMW iX M60
the automobile community
The Bavarian carmaker’s first ever M-branded electric SUV, the iX M60, broke cover at the CES. Apart from the sporty design touches, the headline is definitely its 619PS dual motor electric powertrain, making it BMW’s most powerful EV till date. Another cool party trick on the show car was its super cool colour changing tech, which you can read more about here.
BMW Theatre Screen
BMW was clearly stealing the show with its cool innovation, and the one that really caught our eye was the Theatre Screen. It’s basically a 31-inch screen that supports up to 8k resolution, and keeps rear-seat occupants entertained with Amazon Prime firestick. Also, audio duties will be taken care of by the Bowers and Wilkins surround sound system. And the best part, we‘ll be seeing this in future BMWs.
Cadillac InnerSpace Concept
Cadillac took the wraps off the futuristic looking InnerSpace concept at the CES. But the highlight isn’t about its design, but its fully autonomous capabilities that allow you to interact with the panoramic display wrapping around you. The ‘wellness recovery themes’ also presumably help you stress down after a tough day of work. But if you’re feeling a bit too claustrophobic with these screens, there are plenty of windows on the side and roof so you can take a peek out.
These are the five highlights that caught our attention at the CES 2022. Which one did you like? Drop your thoughts in the comments below.
