The all-new Kia Syros has been unveiled today and this sub-four metre Kia offering will go on sale in the Indian market in early 2025. The bookings of the Syros will start on 3 January, 2025, and the deliveries are scheduled to commence in early February. Being a premium and a new offering, it benefits from a slew of new features that are not even on offer in the Seltos and Sonet. And here, we tell you about what the upcoming Kia Syros gets over its younger and elder siblings.
Although the Sonet and Seltos come with 10.25-inch displays for the infotainment system, the Syros gets a bigger 12.3-inch unit. Additionally, there is a 12.3-inch all-digital driver’s display in the Syros, which you don’t get in the other two SUVs. For reference, the Seltos gets a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, while the Sonet has an analogue instrument cluster with a 4.2-inch MID.
Between the two 12.3-inch screens, Kia has outfitted the Syros with another 5-inch display that allows users to operate climate control. But, Kia has also offered physical controls in the centre console for convenience. The Seltos and Sonet only have conventional physical buttons and rotary knobs for climate control.
For the first time, a sub-four metre SUV in India has received rear-seat ventilation – a feature often seen on cars from higher segments, such as the Hyundai Alcazar and Tata Safari. To be specific, the seat ventilation switches for the rear seats are placed by the door unlock handles.
In addition to the first-in-segment rear seat ventilation, Kia’s new sub-four metre offerings also provide sliding function for the rear seat. The Seltos and Sonet, on the other hand, do not get sliding rear seats. This feature makes the adjustment easier, and if you keep the seats in the forward most position, you can also get better boot space.
The Syros sports an 8-speaker Harman Kardon sound system as against the 8-speaker Bose sound system of the Seltos. Even the Sonet only gets a 7-speaker Bose sound system. While the number of speakers is more or less the same, the sound quality is expected to be better, something that audiophiles may surely enjoy.
Not only the Syros features front and rear parking sensors, but it also comes with a pair of side parking sensors. This is the first time a mass-market car has been equipped with side parking sensors. In contrast, the Seltos and Sonet offer only front and rear parking sensors.
Last but not least, the Syros boasts flush-style door handles. These door handles can be opened manually and add a touch of sleekness to the overall design.
The soon-to-be launched Kia Syros is expected to be priced from around Rs 9-9.50 lakh (ex-showroom). Once launched, it will compete with sub-four metre SUVs, namely the Tata Nexon, Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, and Maruti Suzuki Brezza. Not only that, it will also take on the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Grand Vitara, Kia Seltos, Toyota Hyryder, MG Astor, Tata Curvv, Volkswagen Taigun, and Skoda Kushaq.
