Auto Expo 2025

January is one of the most important months for carmakers and auto enthusiasts, as this is the month for India’s largest automotive event, Auto Expo: The Motor Show. Much like the previous editions of the auto show, we expect a wide range of new cars to be on display. From Porsche, Mercedes-Benz to Morris Garages, brands across the world will showcase their sports and performance cars at the upcoming Auto Expo 2025. And we have shortlisted some of the most exciting performance cars that could make it to the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 in New Delhi.

MG Cyberster

One of the most exciting showcases at the Auto Expo 2025 will be the Cyberster convertible — a two-door electric sports car. For India, it will get a 77 kWh battery pack paired with a dual-motor setup that makes 510 PS and 725 Nm. It can go from 0 to 100 kmph in 3.2 seconds. Most notably, the MG Cyberster delivers a WLTP range of 444 km.

Skoda Octavia RS

The new Octavia is a long-awaited model for the Indian market and it will finally come to our shores. Interestingly, Skoda will bring the refreshed Octavia RS here that features a 2-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine — the same as the new Volkswagen Golf GTI. This engine generates 265 PS and 370 Nm. Sadly, it is coupled to only a 7-speed automatic transmission as the manual is no longer on offer. With this, the Octavia RS is capable of sprinting to 100 kmph in 6.4 seconds and offers a top speed of 250 kmph.

Porsche

Macan Electric

Porsche introduced its first-ever electric SUV, the Macan Electric, in early 2024 and now it is likely to make its debut at the Auto Expo 2025. It comes in 3 trim levels: Macan Electric, Macan 4S Electric, and Macan Turbo Electric. The range and power output vary depending on the trim. For example, the top-spec Turbo trim comes with a 100 kWh battery pack paired with a dual electric motor setup that makes a combined output of 639 PS and 1,130 Nm. This allows the Macan Turbo Electric to go from 0 to 100 kmph in 3.3 seconds. The claimed range for the Turbo is rated at 591 km.

911

German automaker Porsche will showcase several new cars at the Auto Expo 2025, including the updated 911, which could be the show stopper at the event. For the first time, the 911 Carrera 4 GTS gets a 3.6-litre turbocharged flat-six engine mated to an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission that now employs an electric motor. As a result, the combined output of the hybrid system is rated at 541 PS and 610 Nm, while the engine alone delivers 485 PS and 570 Nm. With this, the 911 can achieve 100 kmph from a standstill in 3 seconds and tops out at 312 kmph. Apart from that, there could be the new 911 GT3, 911 GT3 Touring, and 911 Carrera T.

The third-generation Porsche Panamera brings major changes inside and out, including a sleeker look and an upmarket interior. While the entry-level model is powered by a 2.9-litre V6 petrol engine producing 353 PS and 500 Nm. It goes from 0-100 kmph in 5.3 seconds. Mercedes-Benz

G 580 (EQG)

The electric equivalent of the legendary G-Class, the G 580, was revealed globally last year, marking a new era for the iconic nameplate. Now, the electric G-Class will be showcased at the upcoming Auto Expo 2025. Internationally, the electric SUV is powered by a 116 kWh battery pack and quad electric motor setup — each wheel is powered independently with one electric motor. These motors generate 587 PS and 1,164 Nm of torque. Interestingly, the 4 motor setup means the G 580 with EQ Technology can perform a 360-degree spin.

Mercedes-AMG will introduce a new ‘55’ badged model in India, the SL 55 4Matic+ at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025. BMW

M5

BMW brought the new generation M5 to India last year, along with the all-new 5 Series and first-ever i5. And we expect the carmaker to showcase it at the Auto Expo 2025. The latest generation of the M5 is the most radical version of the M5 in history. Not only it features a completely new design inside and out, but it also has a hybrid powertrain. The crux of the new M5 is its 4.4-litre turbocharged V8 paired with a small battery pack and an electric motor. The combined power output of the system stands at 727 PS and 1,000 Nm. Having a small battery pack allows the M5 to be driven on an EV-only range of up to 69 km.
