Increased petrol prices, shortage of production, Covid and various other reasons have led to this outcome

2021 is on the verge of ending and the businesses are still picking up pace. The Indian two-wheeler market has been seeing quite some peaks and valleys in terms of sales lately. Even some of the rather popular bikes have witnessed notably lower sales in November 2021. Here’s the full breakdown.

Model

November 2021 Sales

November 2020 Sales

Hero HF Deluxe

76,149 units

1,79,426 units

TVS Apache Range

28,935 units

41,838 units

Bajaj Pulsar Range

19,602 units

48,355 units

Royal Enfield Classic 350

19,601 units

39,931 units

Yamaha FZ Range

7,638 units

16,522 units

Despite being one of the most affordable bikes from Hero, the HF Deluxe’s sales have taken a hit by almost a lakh units. Covid has not only caused monetary damage but also lessened the purchasing power for the common man. Health and fitness have moved up the priority ladder than having a second bike in the garage.

The TVS Apache and Bajaj Pulsar range sales have boiled down to 60 percent and 50 percent respectively. Apart from Covid, it’s also the rising fuel prices that’s making people more inclined to use public transport than using their own vehicle. Not to mention, the inflation rate is at an all-time high too.

Companies are also struggling with timely deliveries of the bikes. For reference, the Royal Enfield Classic 350 has a waiting period of as long as 2 months due to the slow production caused by the shortage of chipsets.

All said and done, the gradual rise of EV mobility is also evident, thanks to the lower cost of running an electric scooter/bike and the subsidies as well. However, if electric mobility will effectively take over the petrol-powered two-wheelers is something we’ll have to notice over a few months from now.

Yamaha R15

8,392 units

5,848 units

On the bright side, the Yamaha R15 seems to be enjoying better sales than before. This could probably be a result of the launch of the R15 V4. This means the new variant is likely enjoying its honeymoon period sales.
