A big shake up in the Indian motorsport scene has just taken place: C S Santosh and Hero MotoSport have parted ways after six years of racing together. Hero has officially announced the news on its Insta handle as the team gears up for the big Dakar rally in a few month’s time.
Santosh was one of the first two riders to be part of the Hero squad when the company first announced its intentions to go to Dakar. He has finished the rally astride his Hero 450 Rally a couple of times and has also been instrumental in the development of the XPulse 200.
While there is no official announcement from Santosh himself, we hope to get some more information about his plans soon. Perhaps, he would be helpful in piloting a bike from another Indian marque who has its eyes on the Dakar dream in the coming few years.
Could this be the sign that Royal Enfield, with its upcoming Himalayan 450LC, is properly getting into global motorsports? After all, Santosh’s Big Rock hosts the Slide School in Bengaluru and the outfit is also going to be there at Rider Mania this year. Expect more details on this shortly.
