Mercedes-Benz India have launched a slightly updated, 2014 version of the CLA-Class four door coupe. Although we initially expected Mercedes-Benz to launch the slightly facelifted version of the CLS (which has been launched internationally only last week) in India early next year, the German manufacturer has instead decided to launch a model year upgrade instead. The good news though is the fact that the new car is not only slightly more equipped than the one it replaces, it is also slightly cheaper, albeit for a limited amount of time only. Where the 2013 version of the car was prices at Rs 1.03 Crore, the 2014 version is priced at an introductory price of Rs 89.9 lakh, both prices being Ex-showroom, Delhi.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Eberhard Kern, Managing Director and CEO, Mercedes-Benz India said, “CLS-Class is a perfect embodiment of modern sense of status and sensual shapes. With its exciting design and refined sportiness, the model year 2014 CLS offers highest level of exclusivity, ride comfort and safety that is second to none. Mercedes-Benz combines timeless elegance with expressive design like almost no other car. The fascinating new Diamond Silver color, plush interiors and an attractive introductory price in its segment makes CLS a compelling choice to our discerning customers in India.”
On the exterior front, the new Diamond Silver color option combined with all-new 18-inch 15-spoke alloy wheels gives the CLS-Class a added bonus to its already glamorous design. The four-door coupe stance of the CLS-Class combined with its distinctive grille and sweptback headlamps look as spectacular as always. The plush interior is accentuated with the three dimensional display instrument clusters and the multi-function steering wheel that comes standard with paddle shifters.
The Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class is equipped with a 3.5-litre, V6 petrol engine that delivers a healthy 310PS of peak power at 6500rpm and 370Nm of peak torque at 5250rpm. With a limited top speed of 250kmph, the CLS-Class goes just as well as it looks. The CLS-Class will go up against the likes of the BMW 6 Series Grand Coupé and the Audi A7 in the four-door coupe segment while also going up against the likes of the conventional luxury sedans like the Jaguar XJ, the BMW 7 Series, the Audi A8 and the Mercedes-Benz S-Class.
