With the test mule of the third -generation Audi TT making its rounds in and around Mumbai for a while now, there have been endless speculations about its official launch date. We put all the hearsay to an end as our sources reveal that the car is scheduled for a launch towards the end of April.
In terms of design, the 2015 Audi TT retains some of its design cues from the original TT but at the same time draws inspiration from the Sport Quattro Concept. Essentially an evolution of the second generation TT, the 2015 version gets the trapezoidal family grille with sleek LED headlights on either side. The overall silhouette remains more or less the same and it continues to sport those buldging wheel arches. At the back, the 2015 Audi TT gets a redesigned bumper and LED taillights.
On the inside the Audi TT has a futuristic looking cabin that stands out from the rest of the Audi line-up. The overall build quality and ergonomics is spot on too.
Under the hood, the 2015 Audi TT sports a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol unit that makes 230PS. In this state of tune it can touch the 100kmph marker in just 5.3 seconds. Audi also has a TTS variant with over 300PS, but the TTS is unlikely to make it to India, at least initially. Both versions come mated to a 6-speed dual clutch automatic gearbox.
In the Indian scenario, the 2015 Audi TT doesn’t quite have a direct competitor and slots just below the BMW Z4 and the Porsche Boxster. We expect the 2015 Audi TT to be priced at around Rs 60 lakh.
