Audi has launched the virtually indestructible A8 L Security luxury sedan in the country
Audi A8 L Security

Targeted at extremely high-net worth VIPs and heads of state, the Audi A8 L will retail for a staggering Rs 9.15 crores (ex-showroom, Delhi and Mumbai). The price that one is paying – more than those of most hypercars – is for the safety features that the A8 L Security has to offer. Because this is one of the few cars that meets all the criteria for Class VR 9 ballistic protection standard, the highest and most stringent standards for civilian high-security sedans.

To make it virtually indestructible, the Audi A8 L Security’s safety cell integrates extremely resistant materials like aramide fabric, special aluminum alloys, and a hot-formed steel armor. The car has been tested for resistance to explosive charges in accordance with the ERV 2010 guidelines.

The Audi A8 L Security is made to order entirely  under Audi’s supervision in a partnership between Audi’s Neckarsulm plant and a secret, secure factory. Its standard security features include an armoured communication box in the luggage compartment, an intercom for communication with the outside world, and selective door unlocking. Upon the customer’s request, additional safety features like patented emergency exit system, fire extinguishing system, and emergency fresh air system can be had in the car.

Speaking at the launch, Joe King, head, Audi India, said: "We are proud to launch the most secure Audi ever in the form of the Audi A8 L Security here at the Auto Expo 2016. The Audi A8 L Security assumes a unique position in its segment. Its quattro® drive makes it the only luxury sedan with an all-wheel drive system that is offered directly from Audi as an armored high-security vehicle. Thanks to the high share of aluminum in the body, the vehicle's weight is relatively low. Nonetheless, it can handle a maximum payload of 600 kg, which is the best figure in the competitive field.”
