2017 EICMA: Kawasaki Unveils 3 New Bikes

Kawasaki had a substantial presence at this year’s EICMA with new models and updates to existing ones. The new bikes include the Z900RS cafe racer, the supercharged Ninja H2 SX and the Ninja ZX-10R SE. The green pavilion also had a new variant of the Z900 for A2-licence riders and a teaser of the upcoming Ninja 125 and Z125.

Ninja H2SX:

The Ninja H2SX was first showcased amidst much fanfare with enthusiasts scrambling to take a look at the only supercharged sports tourer out there. The H2 SX’s design is based on the Ninja H2, but gets a full fairing and a more conventional rear end. The engine is based on the H2’s 200PS motor, but has been tuned to deliver power in a linear manner within the low- to mid-range for better street performance. As per Kawasaki, it is also more fuel efficient than the  Z1000SX. We hope this H2-based sports tourer makes its way to India next year. (read more about the Ninja H2 SX here)

The Z900RS Cafe, like the Z900RS, pays homage to the Kawasaki Z1. The cafe racer, however, has bolder colours and graphics. The riding position is more focused, thanks to a lower handlebar. The LED headlamp gets a cowl and the sleeker seat unit gets a rear hump. The rear has an elliptical LED taillight. The Z900RS Cafe has an analogue speedometer with a central LCD information panel. The bike further gets multi-spoke cast wheels.

Powering the cafe racer is the 900cc motor from the Z900. It come with KRTC traction control and an assist and slipper clutch. Suspension duties are handled by 41mm USD front forks and a horizontal rear monoshock. With the Z900RS and Z900RS Cafe, Kawasaki has properly entered the modern classic motorcycle scene.

Ninja ZX-10R SE:

The 2018 Ninja ZX-10R SE gets Showa electronic semi-active suspension. It has adjustment solenoids and stroke sensors built into the suspension units. The extra adjustability makes it more formidable both on road and track. Further, the bike gets cast Marchesini forged alloy wheels and a bi-directional quick-shifter. The ZX-10R SE flaunts a black paint job with green highlights and will sit on the top of the ZX-10R lineup.

Z900 A2 Variant:
Kawasaki will now offer the Z900 in an A2 variant. According to the company, dealer and market feedback pointed towards people wanting the A2 variant with the same design and features as the current Z900. The Z900 A2 has its power capped at 47PS to keep in line with the A2 rules. Upon receiving a full A license, the bike’s power can be readjusted to deliver the standard 95PS.

Ninja 125 and Z125:

Finally, Kawasaki kinda had two concepts of the Ninja 125 and Z125. Only unveiling the outlines of the concept, Kawasaki said we will get to see the bike in flesh not before late 2018. As per Kawasaki, the bikes were introduced in response to European requests for more entry-level or A1 license motorcycles.
