KTM launched the 2017 model of the 390 Duke earlier this year. The motorcycle was offered with a segment-first TFT display which can be connected to any smartphone via Bluetooth. Now, as per our sources, KTM is recalling the bike to fix a small bug in the display’s software. KTM is providing the update free of cost and it takes only five to ten minutes for the software to be updated. Thile KTM has not officially announced for a recall as this is a small update and this is being done silently at dealerships when the bikes come in for service. All the new 390 Dukes sold after the recall will carry the update from the showroom and people targeting to buy the motorcycle have no reason to worry about the same. Rear our KTM 390 Duke review here.
The 390 Duke is unarguably the most bang-for-buck motorcycle anyone can buy in the entry level performance naked bike segment. The bike is powered by a 373.3cc engine which produces 44.1PS @ 9000rpm and a peak torque of 37Nm @ 7000rpm, mated to a six speed gearbox. The motorcycle is constructed on a steel trellis frame which gets 43mm WP telescopic forks with 142mm suspension travel at the front and WP monoshock unit with 150mm suspension travel at the rear.
Braking duties are done by a 320mm disc with Bybre callipers at the front and 230mm disc with Bybre callipers at the rear. It gets Bosch two-channel ABS as an option, which can also be disengaged. The 2017 bike gets a taller saddle height of 830mm, a larger fuel tank of 13.4 litres and weighs 149kg. The 390 Duke is priced at Rs 1.96 lakh and Rs 2.26 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the standard and the ABS variants respectively. The bike faces competition from the Benelli TNT 300 and Kawasaki Z250.
