Bajaj Auto has just announced that they will be launching the 2017 edition of the KTM RC range in India on January 19. KTM currently sells the RC 200 and RC 390 from its supersport category of motorcycles in the country. The 2017 editions of the RC twin were unveiled by KTM at the 2015 EICMA motorcycle show held in Milan. Apart from the fresh livery to be received by both bikes, the more powerful RC 390 will receive new mechanical upgrades as well.

Under the 2017 update, the RC 390 will get a black and orange colour scheme but with fresh graphic design in white. The orange colour used for the trellis frame and wheels till now will also be seen more prominently on the body panels. Now, for the mechanical upgrades, the bike gets a larger 320mm disc instead of the 300mm on the current version and a side-mounted exhaust replacing the underbelly unit in order to comply with new emission norms. Other features such as slipper clutch, ride-by-wire and switchable ABS remain untouched.

The bike will continue to be powered by the same 373.3cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled mill, which has been updated for the 2017 edition. The engine continues to produce the same power output of 43.5PS at 9000rpm while max torque has been bumped up to 36Nm at 7000rpm.

On the other hand, for the 2017 RC 200, the update is mostly on the cosmetic front. The bike will come with a black and white colour scheme with an orange graphic design. The pillion seat will feature additional 12mm padding for more comfort. Mechanically, the bike will continue to be powered by the same 199cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled mill that is now Euro-4 compliant. The power output figures remain unchanged at 25PS and 19.2Nm. The bike will continue to sport the underbelly exhaust system, unlike the 2017 RC 390.

Expect both bikes to receive a mild hike in price when launched next week.
