After announcing the price of the X-Blade and the Activa 5G, Honda has now silently updated the price of the 2018 Honda CBR250R on its website. The standard variant has been priced at Rs 1.63 lakh while the ABS variant has received a price tag of Rs 1.93 lakh -- a difference of Rs 2609 and Rs 3125 respectively over the older models (all ex-showroom Delhi).
The 2018 CBR 250R was officially unveiled at the Auto Expo 2018 as a part of Honda's updated lineup. The bike also gets all-black treatment on the alloy wheels, exhaust pipes and rear fenders. As a part of the update the baby CBR now comes with full LED headlamps and a blacked-out instrument console.
Visually, it retains similar design elements as the older discontinued model, with the exception of all-new colour schemes and graphics.
These new colour options include Matte Gray, Orange, Gray and Green, Yellow and Red. Powering the new CBR is a now BSIV-compliant 249.6cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine which produces 26.3PS of power at 8500rpm and 22.9Nm of torque at 7000rpm, mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The motorcycle continues to use a diamond-type frame which is suspended upon conventional telescopic forks at the front and a monoshock unit at the back. Braking is handled by 296mm front and 220mm rear disc brakes, with ABS on the higher variant.
Honda has managed to competitively price the CBR 250R. The price hike is relatively low, but we do wish the company had offered ABS as standard here. It remains to be seen if the CBR 250R will be able to establish a strong foothold in the already competitive entry-level sportbike segment. It will compete against the KTM RC390, Apache RR 310 and the Benelli 302 R.
