After the Kawasaki Versys 650, it is now the turn of the Z900 to receive updates for the upcoming year. And just like the Versys 650, the changes are limited to the paint options, with the addition of three colours - metallic grey, metallic white, metallic black. Other subtle changes include the addition of new graphics that now replaces the 'Z' on the fuel tank extensions and the rear seat with '900'.
Kawasaki has made sure that the new colours are distinctive from each other. For example, bikes finished in metallic white and metallic black get a green coloured frame with black alloys. On the other hand, the grey coloured variant comes with a red frame and red alloy wheels, which looks quite striking. If you fancy this colour, hurry up and head to your nearest Kawasaki dealership as it’s only available in limited numbers. We personally like the metallic silver option as the contrast between the green and white gives the bike a distinctive road presence.
Powering the Kawasaki Z900 is the same 948cc in-line, 4-cylinder engine which churns out 125PS of power and 98.6Nm of torque. To put these numbers into perspective, in our tests we found the Z900 to sprint from 0 to 100kmph in just 3.7 seconds, making it the second fastest bike we've tested after the Triumph Street Triple RS (3.59 seconds).
The Kawasaki Z900 is priced at Rs 7.68 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) and rivals the Triumph Street Triple S (Rs 9.19 lakh), Yamaha MT-09 (Rs 10.39 lakh), Ducati 797 (Rs 8.03 lakh) and the recently launched Suzuki GSX-S750 (Rs 7.45 lakh) (all prices, ex-showroom Delhi).
