Ducati recently introduced its most powerful production bike yet, the Superleggera V4. It uses lightweight carbon fibre components, a plethora of electronics and an Akrapovic exhaust that breathes fire.
Like the 1299 Superleggera, the 2020 Ducati Superleggera V4 gets a carbon fibre frame, bodywork, swingarm and wheels.
These lightweight components translate to a dry weight of just 152.2kg with the racing kit. That's almost 23kg lighter than the standard Ducati Panigale V4! To put things into perspective, the standard V4 is already among the lightest production superbikes in the world.
The Superleggera’s fairing draws inspiration from Ducati’s MotoGP race bike and its double winglet design, which offer up to 50kg of downforce at 270kmph.
The bike also uses aluminium, magnesium and titanium bits to keep weight in check.
The Superleggera V4 is powered by Ducati's most powerful engine with a V4 configuration. The 998cc V4 motor puts out 234PS and 119Nm of peak torque using a complete Akrapovic exhaust system as part of the race kit. According to Ducati, it has the best power-to-weight ratio of any production bike on sale.
For the Superleggera V4, an exclusive “Race GP” interface has been developed, with inputs from MotoGP rider Andrea Dovizioso. The mode displays only crucial details like the bike’s lap time and key information such as gear shift and engine settings. It was developed with inputs from MotoGP rider Andrea Dovizioso.
It gets an array of electronic rider aids including different power modes, cornering ABS, traction, launch, wheelie and slide control and engine brake control (EBC). If that's not enough you also get a bi-directional quick-shifter as standard.
Its suspension setup comprises fully adjustable 43mm USD forks and a monoshock from Ohlins with titanium springs and GP-derived valves.
Putting the anchor down are top-spec Brembo MCS caliper levers and Stylema R brake calipers.
As you'd expect, the Ducati Superleggera V4 doesn't come cheap. It's expected to retail at 1,00,000 Euros (around Rs 78 lakh). The last Ducati 1299 Superleggera sold in India was priced at Rs 1.12 crore (ex-showroom), making it by far the most expensive bike ever sold in the country.
