A couple of months ago, Kawasaki launched the 2021 Z650 in the USA. Now, the Japanese bike maker has brought its updated middleweight street-fighter to India.
What’s The Price? Who Are Its Rivals?
The 2021 Kawasaki Z650 is priced at Rs 6,24,000 (ex-showroom Delhi). It’s the same price that Kawasaki announced during its latest price hike.
With the current asking price, the naked 650cc Kwacker manages to undercut its arch-nemesis, the Triumph Trident 660 priced at Rs 6,95,000 by Rs 71,000 and the Honda CB650R priced at Rs 8.67 lakh by Rs 2.43 lakh. That’s quite a bit of saving.
However, 2021 Z650 still costs Rs 1.95 lakh more than the most affordable middleweight naked in the country, the CFMoto 650 NK, priced at Rs 4,29,000.
What’s New?
For 2021, Kawasaki has introduced a new paint scheme on the Z650. It’s called Candy Lime Green Type 3 and gives the bike a snazzier look. The chassis is painted in green colour and the bodywork is draped in Black with Green accents.
What’s Unchanged?
Apart from the little cosmetic upgrade, the 2021 Kawasaki Z650 is the same as the previous iteration. The muscular design has been retained. It’s powered by the same BS6-compliant 649cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin motor that makes a claimed 68PS and 64Nm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox.
It features LED illumination and a smartphone-compatible 4.3-inch TFT display.
The cycle parts too remain unaltered. The 2021 Kawasaki Z650 is suspended on a 41mm telescopic fork and a preload-adjustable monoshock. The braking hardware comprises 300mm dual front discs and a 220mm rear unit with dual-channel ABS as standard.
It continues to roll on 17-inch alloys wrapped in 120/70 front and 160/60 rear Dunlop Sportsmax Roadsport 2 rubber.
What Should Have Been Changed?
Similar to its faired sibling, the 2021 Kawasaki Z650 too could have used LED turn indicators instead of bulb units.
ZigSays
The 2021 Kawasaki Z650 makes for a sweet deal at Rs 6,24,000 considering its rival costs noticeably more. And the one that costs less doesn’t offer the performance, brand value or even the quality as the updated Kwacker.
