Italian luxury carmaker, Maserati, has kickstarted 2021 by launching the facelifted Ghibli at Rs 1.15 crore. Maserati’s entry-level sedan, the Ghibli, gets a cosmetic nip and tuck, more ‘luxurious’ features and most importantly, a new hybrid powertrain. It’s offered in a total of four variants. The diesel model that was on sale before has now been discontinued in India. Here are the detailed prices:

Maserati has made changes to the exterior as a part of its MY2021 update. Design changes are minuscule so one could easily miss the new blacked-out slatted grille replacing the chrome slatted unit of the previous model. The LED headlamps, whose design is similar, now feature adaptive functionality. They are claimed to offer 200 percent better illumination than before. The silhouette and rear-end design is similar, save for the redesigned LED tail lamps that look more angular now.
Step inside, close the door, and you’ll notice the 2021 Ghibli comes with soft closing doors, a small addition that uplifts the premium experience. Once inside, save for the new dials, the dashboard layout remains similar to the pre-facelifted model. While it’s no bad thing, it lacks the wow factor of say, a Mercedes-Benz E-Class or an Audi A6.
The 2021 Ghibli also gets new features such as connected car tech, powered tailgate with kick sensor, and level-2 autonomous driving technology.
What’s also new is the 2.0-litre hybrid powertrain that develops 330PS and 450Nm. It’s the least powerful model in the current Ghibli lineup, but it does the 0-100kmph sprint in a quick 5.7 seconds. The brakes, which are Brembo units, come with a regenerative braking function to recuperate charge into the battery pack. Here are the specifications of the 3.0-litre V6 and 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine:

The Maserati Ghibli is one finely crafted car, but its entry-level variant costs more than its rivals, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, Audi A6, and the BMW 5 Series. That said, the exclusivity of the Maserati logo itself is more than enough to seal the deal for buyers looking to stand out from the crowd.
