Kawasaki recently bumped up the price of its two-wheelers, which at first, seemed like just another price hike. But in reality, the surge in price closed off the gap between their existing and new model range. With that out of the way, Kawasaki has now launched the 2022 Vulcan S in India.
What’s The Price? Who Are Its Rivals?
The 2022 Vulcan S is priced at Rs 6.10 lakh (ex-showroom), a premium of Rs 6,000 over the outgoing model. While the Vulcan S doesn’t have a direct rival, the recently launched Benelli 502C, priced at Rs. 4.98 lakh, comes close to being a contender. Going forward, it could also face the heat from Honda’s Rebel 500, which may be introduced in India by the end of this year.
What’s New?
Not much really, apart from a new Metallic Matte Grey paint scheme, which keeps it looking fresh for 2022. The green pinstripe that runs over the fuel tank, radiator side covers, and wheel rims add to the bike’s overall appeal.
What’s Unchanged?
The rest of the bike remains unchanged. So you have the same BS6-compliant 649cc parallel-twin engine putting out 61PS at 7500rpm and 62.4Nm at 6600rpm. The same goes for the hardware, which remains as is.
For increased flexibility, Kawasaki has provided the Vulcan S with Ergo-Fit which allows the rider to alter the positioning of the footpegs, seats, and levers as per their comfort.
What Should Have Been Changed?
We would have loved to see Kawasaki bring in the ‘Cafe’ variant in India. The one available in the international market gets an exclusive three-tone paint scheme and a short, smoked visor.
ZigSays
At Rs 6.10 lakh, the Vulcan S is still one of the most affordable mid-displacement cruisers available in India. Although the new paint schemes are refreshing, we would love to see a complete design overhaul that should put the bike in a better position to fend off potential rivals.
