Honda’s newly launched CB300R has a lot of things going for it. Top-shelf features, retro-modern design, premium underpinnings, all for Rs 2.41 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Sounds tempting, right? Well, it’s about to sound even better, literally. Aftermarket exhaust manufacturer Akrapovic has announced a new carbon-fibre slip-on exhaust for the CB300R.
But wait. For now, it’s only available for the US market. Even then, it costs a whopping USD 516.46 (approx Rs 36,919). Also, due to noise and environmental regulations, it is only allowed for track use. The exhaust system features a carbon-fibre muffler and end cap. It’s also 68.1 per cent lighter than the stock exhaust. Speaking of which, compare it with the stock exhaust and you’ll see (or hear?) a world of difference. The Akra is much more throaty, bass-heavy and overall aggressive. You’ll definitely notice it if one passes by you. Here it is in all its glory.
So, will it come to India? Considering its track-only use and high asking price, it’s highly unlikely. Coming back to the CB300R, it is powered by a 286cc, single-cylinder engine which makes 30.45PS of power and 27.4Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed transmission. The feature list consists of all-LED lighting, fully digital instrument cluster and an IMU-based ABS system which intelligently distributes the braking force between front and rear wheel.
The Honda CB300R primarily goes up against the KTM 390 Duke and the BMW G 310 R (who also have their own Akras available in India). We’ll be sure to put it against its adversaries once we get our hands on it. Until then, stay tuned!
