The launch of the Audi Q5 45TFSI also witnessed the unveiling of limited-run special editions of the Audi Q3 and Audi Q7. Called the Design Edition, the special edition variants that are set to be launched soon pack a few changes to the exterior and additional features. Audi hopes these changes will freshen their appeal in the face of stiff competition from other German car manufacturers. Here’s what sets the two apart from their regular variants.
Q3 Design Edition
Q7 Design Edition
Although Audi showcased both special edition variants of the SUVs with diesel engines, we expect the Ingolstadt-based car manufacturer to offer with petrol engines to. For reference, the Q3 comes with two engine options - a 1.4-litre 30TFSI petrol that puts out 150PS of power and 250Nm of torque and a 2.0-litre 35TDI diesel that packs 150PS and 340Nm. While the petrol engine is offered with a 6-speed automatic, the diesel engine uses a 7-speed automatic. The diesel-powered Q3 can also be had with quattro all-wheel drive too.
The flagship Q7 is offered with either a 2.0-litre petrol motor that generates 252PS and 370Nm or a 3.0-litre diesel engine that makes 249PS and 600Nm. Both engines send power to all four wheels via a 7-speed auto ‘box and quattro AWD.
While prices haven’t been announced, expect the Design Editions of both SUVs to command a slight premium over their standard variants. Currently, the Q3 is priced between Rs 36.53 lakh and Rs 42.88 lakh, while the Q7 range starts at Rs 73.37 lakh and tops out at Rs 85.18 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom India).
