BMW has given the 6 Series family a range of subtle but noticeable styling tweaks for 2015. This includes the convertible, two-door Coupe and 4-door Gran Coupe. On the outside, the front end gets refreshed without much reprofiling. The grille gets 9 slats instead of 10 for larger gaps between slats, the headlamps are now adaptive full-LED units and angling further inside than before and the air-dams have been revised as well with LED lights on top of the air dams.
BMW is also offering a bunch of new exterior colours for the 2015 6-series.
There’s little change on the inside. BMW is now using a few LED lights on the inside and to make it more contemporary, high gloss black panels on the centre console do the job. There’s a lot more equipment though – navigation, dynamic cruise control, heated front seats, heated wing mirrors and two-zone climate control is now standard across all variants. In addition to the standard leather, there’s also a choice of two-tone Nappa leather upholstery.
For that further oomph, the 6 Series comes with two optional packs – a Black Accents Package and a M Sport Edition. The former basically blackens out a lot of bits – the grille, window surrounds, pipes and even black leather interior trim. The M Sport Edition gets a sporty M body kit, new steering wheel, 20 inch wheels, ventilated seats and soft close doors.
There is no mechanical update for 2015 so the variants on offer are the 640i and 650i with a inline 6-cylinder and V8 heart respectively. The 640i develops 320PS of power and the 650i pumps out 450PS. Both come with twin-turbos to give you a blisteringly quick sprint from 0-100kmph in 4.3 seconds in the V8.
The M versions of these cars will get the same update but under the hood is the larger more powerful 4.4-litre 570PS V8 twin-turbo engine with a 7-speed DCT gearbox compared to the 8-speeds in the standard cars.
