BMW India has confirmed the launch date for the BMW G 310 twins. The BS6 version of BMW’s most affordable bikes in India will debut on October 8. Although the new emission norms came into effect in April 2020, the launch of the BS6 BMW G 310 R and the BMW G 310 GS was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Bookings for both the BMW bikes had already commenced in August.
Teaser images indicate BMW will not just be updating both bikes with a BS6 powerplant but also LED headlights. The BS6 BMW G 310 R and the G 310 GS are also likely to be offered in new colour options to differentiate themselves from their predecessor.
The TVS Apache RR 310 received the BS6 treatment earlier this year and its power output remained unchanged despite the transition. The liquid-cooled single-cylinder motor is rated at 34PS and 27.3Nm. We are hopeful that even the BMW engines will make the transition without any power loss.
While most two-wheelers have witnessed a price hike with the BS6 update, our sources say BMW Motorrad has a surprise in store for us. Rumours suggest the BS6 BMW G 310 R and the G 310 GS could receive a price cut of around Rs 30,000 to Rs 50,000! One of the main reasons the BMW bikes have failed to strike a chord with Indian buyers is their premium pricing. If the German brand manages to reduce prices, it could look forward to better sales figures. Watch this space for more updates.
