Even though Kawasaki has pulled the plug on the Ninja 300 in major motorcycle markets like Europe and America, the supersport continues to be a great success for the Japanese brand in India. But with the BS6 emission norms looming, it seemed that the Ninja 300 would meet its demise in our market too. Thankfully, it seems like that is not going to be the case.

Sources within the company claims that Kawasaki is working on updating the model to meet the BS6 emission norms. While there is no timeline as yet regarding when the BS6-compliant Ninja 300 would be ready for sale, it is confirmed that it will not arrive prior to the 1 April, 2020, deadline. It is likely that the emission-compliant motorcycle will arrive mid-2020.
The Ninja 300 received a whole host of locally sourced parts in 2018 which significantly reduced its price to Rs 2.98 lakh, making it the most affordable parallel-twin bike in the country back then. With the BS6 update, prices of the Ninja 300 will surely go up but we do not expect it to be significantly higher than what it currently is. Expect the updated Ninja 300 to retail for Rs 3.2 lakh (ex-showroom India), though it will not be surprising if the new prices are lower.
