When the staggeringly beautiful Ducati 916 was launched back in 1994, it created waves in the two-wheeler industry. The clean lines on the fairing, underseat exhaust, exposed single-sided swingarm, beautifully retro twin circular tail lights - all reeked of Italian elegance. That’s because the motorcycle was designed by legendary Italian motorcycle designer Massimo Tamburini, making it even more special for motorcycle enthusiasts and racers alike.

At the time, the Ducati 916 was the pinnacle of form and function. It is only fitting that for its 25th anniversary, Ducati has cherry-picked the Panigale V4 to commemorate the occasion. Called the Panigale V4 25° Anniversario 916, it adorns one of the world’s most successful World Superbike Racer, Carl Forgarty’s race number along with an exclusive livery. Ducati says the 500-unit limited edition motorcycle will also get exclusive racing components but we’re unsure of what exactly they will be as Ducati has only released a teaser for now. We’ll get to know more details when Ducati unveils the motorcycle on July 12 at Pebble Beach, California. Here are the details of the brand’s announcement:

A bike destined to transform the world of motorcycle design and to make fans all over the world fall in love. This limited edition will consist of only 500 individually numbered bikes and will sport an original livery and exclusive racing components. The Panigale V4 25° Anniversario 916 will be unveiled in the presence of 'King' Carl Fogarty, four-times winner of the World Superbike Championship with Ducati in the 1990s.
During the World SBK race at Laguna Seca, to be held on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 July, the Aruba.it Racing-Ducati team will pay a further tribute to the 916 when Alvaro Bautista and Chaz Davies' bikes take to the track with a special livery inspired by the graphics of the Panigale V4 25° Anniversario 916.
