Lack of top-spec components on the test mule indicates that could be to the base-spec standard version
  • The Streetfighter V4 could arrive in two trims like other Ducatis: Standard and S.
  • The spied bike misses out on few golden bling parts.
  • Unlike the Panigale V4, this one can seat pillion riders too.

After confirming that the Streetfighter V4 will be headlining the 2019 World Ducati Premiere, the first pictures of the near production-ready motorcycle have surfaced online. Prior to his fatal crash metres from the finish line, Carlin Dunne was on course to set a blistering course record on a prototype Streetfighter V4 at the legendary Pikes Peak Hill Climb event this year. A truly sad moment in the event’s as well as the company’s history and hence, Ducati plans to auction off bike number 5 of its latest iteration of the Panigale V4 25° Anniversario 916 to commemorate the great rider’s legacy.

Coming back to the Streetfighter V4, the spied motorcycle is slightly different from the prototype racer. For starters, there are no wings. You would say that wings on a naked motorcycle would just spoil the charm. However, Ducati has been an innovator in the use of aerodynamics for its performance-oriented motorcycles. Hence, it would not be surprising for the winglets to appear on the ‘S’ trim or as an accessory.

There are component changes on the spied bike too. There are no golden bits here which mean the absence of Ohlins suspension. Instead what is present is a Showa Big-Piston Front (BPF) fork and a Sachs rear shock. We are still on the fence if this bike is sporting the killer Brembo Stylema calipers or the one-notch-lower-yet-still-brilliant M50 monoblocs. The rims are similar to the ones on the base-spec Panigale V4.

What is thankfully unchanged is the phenomenal 1103cc V4 motor. Tuning is also unlikely to be altered as Ducati would pride themselves in having the world’s most powerful naked on sale, stealing the tag away from fellow Italian bike maker MV Agusta and its super-naked, the Brutale 1000. If this does turn out to be true, the Streetfighter would have over 210 thoroughbred Italian stallions ready to gallop at the crack of the whip.

More news on the Streetfighter V4 soon as we prepare for its global debut in November 2019.
