Yes, we ideally would have liked to see both these cars on a race track or a scenic country road, but frankly there are no barters that bear logic when it comes to seeing a Ferrari in complete flesh and blood. Standing alongside big names like itself, Ferrari’s humble two model display under the Shreyans roof at Pragati Maidan was nothing to feel ashamed about.
While, much has already been heard and seen about the sensational 458 Italia model by Ferrari, at the 11th Auto Expo in New Delhi Ferrari fans got within a few inches of two very special cars also built in Maranello, the Ferrari California and the sporty FF Grand Tourer.
Launched for the very first time at the 2008 Paris Motor Show, the Ferrari California happens to be quite a revolution in itself. Featuring the first all aluminum built mid-front mounted V8 engine in the company’s history, the 4,300 cc strong California has a power output of 466.39PS @ 7,750 rpm, and a maximum torque of 485Nm @ 5,000 rpm (75% of which is available at just 2,250 rpm).
A two door 2+2 hard top convertible on sale in India for a whopping Rs 2.27 Crore (ex-showroom), the Ferrari California takes less than 4 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h and delivers a blistering top speed of 310 km/h.
A more recent breakthrough for Ferrari is undoubtedly its innovatively designed FF model, which is now one of the fastest four-seater models to enter India. With a mid-front positioned V12 powertrain, the Ferrari FF has a chunky 669.17PS of power on tap, and apart from sporting a flashy Grand Tourer theme it also prides in becoming the first ever Ferrari to sport an all-wheel drive system. Available at a starting price of Rs. 3.42 crore (ex-showroom), the Ferrari FF is a sports GT that gives versatile performance an all new meaning.
