August 4th, 2015 will be an important day for Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. (HMSI). The Japanese two-wheeler giant will ride in its highest displacement motorcycle to be assembled in India in the form of the CBR 650F. For such an important motorcycle, Honda isn’t leaving any stone unturned. The Honda CBR 650F will be simultaneously launched in eight cities across India in a special event called Revfest. The Honda CBR 650F will be sold only its exclusive sales-service shop-in-shop network of elite ‘Wing World’ dealerships across 13 cities. The cities where the upcoming performance bike will be sold include New Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata, Indore, Chandigarh, Ahmedabad, Pune, Kochi, Lucknow and Bhubaneswar.
The Honda CBR 650F belongs to the sport-tourer genre of motorcycles. But the styling of the bike is akin to that of the litre-class CBR and this should appeal to the Indian masses that have a fairing fixation. But unlike supersport motorcycles that have an aggressive riding posture, the Honda CBR 650F will have a more upright and comfortable riding position. The bike houses a 649cc, liquid-cooled, in-line-four motor pumping out 87PS at 11,000rpm and 63Nm at 8,000rpm.
The motor is mated to a six-speed transmission. Honda first showcased the bike at the 2014 Auto Expo and since then it has created a lot of buzz among the enthusiasts junta. Pricing is one aspect that remains questionable and according to our sources the new motorcycle will not be priced aggressively. The new Honda CBR 650F is expected to carry a sticker price around Rs 7.5 to 8 lakh (ex showroom Delhi). According to our sources Honda will also showcase three new motorcycles at Revfest.
