Honda launched the highly anticipated CBR 650F in India with a sticker price of Rs 7.60 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai). The new motorcycle is the largest displacement motorcycle to be locally assembled by Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. (HMSI). The Honda CBR 650F made its first public appearance in India at the 2014 Auto Expo and generated a lot of curiosity among two-wheeler enthusiasts. The new Honda offering falls under the sports-tourer genre of motorcycles. The Honda CBR 650F will be sold only in Honda’s exclusive sales-service shop-in-shop network of elite ‘Wing World’ dealerships across 13 cities. The cities where the CBR 650F will be sold include New Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata, Indore, Chandigarh, Ahmedabad, Pune, Kochi, Lucknow and Bhubaneswar.

Honda CBR 650F India launch

Being a performance tourer, the Honda CBR 650F gets an aerodynamic fairing to shield the rider from windblast. This should come as good news for the majority of the performance bike consumers who have a soft spot for full-faired motorcycles. Talking about riding posture, the clip-on bars and rear-set footpegs result in a sporty but comfy riding posture as it isn’t overly aggressive like superbikes. The bike houses a 649cc, liquid-cooled, in-line-four motor pumping out 87PS at 11,000rpm and 63Nm at 8,000rpm. The motor is mated to a six-speed transmission and power is transmitted to the real wheel via chain drive.  Suspension duties are handled by telescopic front forks and a monoshock unit at the back. Given the performance on tap, Honda has equipped the motorcycle with twin disc brake at front and a single disc brake unit at the rear. The Honda CBR 650F will compete against the likes of the Kawasaki Ninja 650 and the Benelli TNT 600GT.
