Indian Motorcycle made their entry in our two-wheeler spectrum early last year and since then it has been successful enough to sell close to 200 units of the bike despite having only one dealership in Delhi. It recently inaugurated its second dealership in Bangalore when it launched the Roadmaster and Chief Dark Horse motorcycles. Now though Indian Motorcycle is on a charge as Polaris India Managing Director Pankaj Dubey recently announced that they will add four new dealerships by end of 2015.
The new Indian Motorcycle showrooms are coming up in Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad and Ahmedabad. The Mumbai dealership is expected to commence operations next month and will be neighbours to the DSK-Benelli and Triumph Motorcycle dealerships. The new dealerships will give a shot in the arm to sales for the iconic American bikemaker. Indian Motorcycle currently has six motorcycles on sale in India with prices ranging from Rs 12 lakh to Rs 34.95 lakh. Indian is also planning to set up CKD assembly for its motorcycles as currently all the bikes are brought via the CBU route. If it is successful in locally assembling its motorcycles similar to its arch rival Harley-Davidson, then it will be able to price its products aggressively thereby hiking sales.
