In a bid to keep pace with rivals like the Mercedes-AMG S63 and Audi S8, Jaguar has now unveiled a souped up version of its flagship executive sedan (the Jaguar XJ) called the XJR575. You don’t need an abundance in grey matter to figure the 575 in the name stands for its power output. The XJR575 uses the same powerplant as the Project 8 and the F-Type SVR.

This motor makes 25PS more than the previous range topper - the standard XJR. An 8-speed automatic gearbox and rear wheel drive help the XJR575 to reach a ton in 4.4 seconds. The British carmaker, that has gone bonkers of late, claims that the Jaguar has a top speed of 300kmph. If you haven’t got a delicate right foot, you could hit its top speed in just 44 seconds! Oh, and it’s only available in standard wheelbase. But then, when you have a car like this, it’d be a shame to hand the keys to a chauffeur. Heck, I wouldn’t even give it to a valet!

Built by Jaguar’s in-house nutters, called SVO or Special Vehicle Operation, the 575 gets a bespoke front bumper with a lower air intake, bonnet louvres, new side sills, a subtle rear spoiler, 20-inch gloss black wheels with red brake callipers and XJR575 badges peppered around the exterior and the cabin.

Speaking of the cabin, the diamond-quilted leather seats look really gorgeous as well. The XJR575 is also available in two new colours - Velocity Blue and Satin Corris Gray. On the inside, you now get a larger 10-inch Touch Pro infotainment system and 4G WiFi connectivity. Ian Callum, Jaguar’s design director, said, “Jaguar is the standard bearer for interior refinement and the XJR575 is no different. It can go very quickly, but it does so with the serene comfort customers expect from a Jaguar saloon. This makes it a very special car indeed.”

The Jaguar XJR575 is priced at Rs 79 lakh (excluding import duty and GST). We are sure Jaguar customers will lap it up like there’s no tomorrow, especially since the next-gen XJ, rumored to be unveiled in 2019, is said to be an all-electric luxury sedan.
