The bikes with this motor will be sold as a separate variant alongside the existing models
  • The Perak’s 334cc motor produces 3.1PS and 3Nm more than than the Jawa and Jawa Forty Two.
  • The higher-spec variants will be proper production models.
  • Expect Jawa to offer these variants in mid-2020.
  • At the sidelines of the Jawa Perak’s launch, we learnt that the standard Jawa as well as the Jawa Forty Two will get the Perak’s engine in the future. They will be sold as more premium variants alongside the already existing Jawa and Jawa Forty Two. These bigger-engined models will be full-fledged production bikes and are likely to be launched in mid-2020.

While the Perak’s 334cc motor is already BS6-compliant, Jawa will also update the existing 293cc powerplant to comply with the upcoming emission norms in the near future. The Perak’s engine displacement is bigger because Jawa has increased the bore. However, the stroke length remains the same as before. Thanks to this setup, it makes 3.1PS and 3Nm more than the smaller mill. Theoretically, it should help the motor rev higher and quicker, effectively making the bike even livelier on the highway.

Apart from the change in engine, expect Jawa to retain the current underpinnings in both the premium variants. This way, Jawa will be able to have greater control over the premium which the two variants could command. The standard Jawa now costs Rs 1.64 lakh whereas the Jawa Forty Two will set you back by Rs 1.55 lakh. Expect the 334cc variants to command a premium of around Rs 15,000 to Rs 20,000 over the smaller-engined models. They will be an ideal fit for riders who like the Perak but aren’t fans of its strictly single seat setup.
