Iconic brand Jawa, which was recently resurrected by Mahindra-owned Classic Legends has made a great comeback in the Indian market. In a release sent out by Classic Legends, the company claims that Jawa bikes are sold out till September 2019. Online bookings for the motorcycle will close on 25 December and prospective customers will have to visit dealerships to book their bikes. However, Jawa claims that it'll do its best to fulfil all the online orders it gets till tomorrow by September 2019. Currently, Jawa has 10 operational dealerships in Pune (2), Bangalore (3) and Delhi (5). Classic Legends also announced that Jawa will have over 100 operational dealerships across the country by 15 February 2019.
Last week, Classic Legends also launched the dual-channel ABS variant for the Jawa and the Jawa Forty Two, which carries a premium of Rs 8,942 over the respective single-channel ABS-equipped bikes. Deliveries for the Jawa duo will begin from March 2019 as per the booking sequence and customers will be personally notified about the delivery timeline for their bikes. The Jawa is priced at Rs 1.64 lakh, while the Jawa Forty Two retails for Rs 1.55 lakh (both prices are ex-showroom Delhi).
Both the Jawa offerings are powered by a 293cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor producing 27PS and 28Nm of peak torque. The engine is paired to a 6-speed gearbox. The Jawa harks back to the original Jawa which was sold in the 1960s with dollops of chrome and retro styling, while the Forty Two is a more modern and urban-oriented version of the same. The Jawa duo compete against the Royal Enfield Classic 350 ABS.
