Jeep Compass Launch On July 31

Jeep fans, listen up! The Jeep Compass compact-SUV will be launched in India on July 31.

Jeep India had begun accepting bookings for the Compass on June 20, 2017, with the company claiming that it had received over 1000 confirmed bookings within a week.

The Jeep Compass is being manufactured at Fiat Chrysler Automobile's plant in Ranjangaon, near Pune, Maharashtra. It is the only FCA factory in the world which is assembling the right-hand-drive Compass right now; most of the SUVs assembled here will be headed for international markets like the UK and Japan.

Jeep had confirmed (at the first drive event in Goa earlier last month) that it would only launch the diesel-powered variants of the Compass at first. Petrol-powered variants will be launched subsequently, and more variants/features can be added or removed as per demand.

When the full range is launched, the Jeep Compass will be offered in three basic variants - Sport, Latitude and Limited. Engine options are limited to one diesel (a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged Multijet motor developing 173PS/350Nm) and one petrol (a 1.4-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged MultiAir motor developing 162PS/250Nm). Two transmission options will also be available - a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.

The Jeep Compass will be available with a shift-on-the-fly 4x4 diesel-powered, manual-transmission-equipped variant at launch. Some of the features on offer on the top-of-the-line Jeep Compass include HID projector lamps, LED guide lights at the front and rear, 17-inch alloy wheels, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment display, 6 airbags etc.
