Destiny can play a cruel role and that is exactly what has happened with Isle of Man TT legend John McGuiness. The Englishman had crashed during practice of the North West 200 race last week and suffered injuries. While earlier reports had said that the injuries sustained by McGuiness aren’t serious, sadly that isn’t the case. The Isle of Man TT legend has fractured his right leg and doctors have been unable to plate his leg. Instead, they have used an external fixture to support his leg, which will increase the recovery time further. Apart from the above, the Honda rider has also fractured three ribs and four vertebrae. The crash was reportedly caused due to a mechanical failure and Honda withdrew from the North West 200 race.
McGuiness will have to spend another week in the hospital before he can be discharged and doctors have advised him to wear a back brace for six weeks more. The injury means that it remains doubtful that the TT legend will participate in the 2017 edition of Isle of Man TT which starts later this month. John McGuiness is second on the all-time winners list at the hallowed mountain circuit with 23 wins and was all set to add to his tally.
While it is highly unlikely that McGuiness will participate in the TT race, one can never bet against motorcycle racers as their willpower and mettle is of another level. We wish John McGuiness speedy recovery and will be following his health closely.
