Kawasaki has announced that deliveries of its most affordable BS6-compliant bike, the Kawasaki Ninja 300, have commenced. The bikes are on their way from the factory to the dealerships, and the Japanese brand says the respective dealers will contact customers, based on whether the showroom is in a region where there is no localised lockdown. So if you’re receiving your bike, it is best to follow all the necessary COVID-19 guidelines to ensure safe delivery.
The 2021 Kawasaki Ninja 300 BS6 comes at an introductory price of Rs 3,18,000 (ex-showroom India). It can be booked either via authorised dealerships or through Kawasaki’s official website. In March, Kawasaki introduced online booking vouchers worth Rs 3,000 on Amazon India as well. If you’re keen on buying the baby Ninja, now is the time, as Kawasaki is expected to increase the price in the near future.
That being said, even at Rs 3.18 lakh, the Ninja 300 is way too expensive for what it offers. Apart from the 5mm decrease in the seat height (785mm), 5mm extra ground clearance (140mm), new colour schemes, and a cleaner engine, there are no new tangible features to speak of. Even the engine makes 0.9Nm less than before (26.1Nm), but the power output remains the same, at 39PS. We would’ve liked it if Kawasaki had offered at least an all-LED lighting system and a smartphone-compatible instrument cluster to justify the 20,000-rupee hike over the BS4 iteration.
At the moment, the only available alternatives in the 300cc segment are the KTM RC 390 and the TVS Apache RR 310. If you’re willing to wait a little more, you could consider the upcoming Benelli 302R, catering to the 300cc twin-cylinder segment, like the Ninja 300. And if you’re looking for other twin-cylinder motorcycles in the same price bracket, the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and the Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 are pretty tempting alternatives. You can check out the latest waiting period of the 650 twins here.
