The Kia Syros is the latest SUV in the South Korean automaker’s India lineup, priced between Rs 9 lakh and Rs 17.8 lakh (ex-showroom). It belongs to the sub-4-metre segment and comes packed with modern convenience, comfort, and safety features. The obvious of it is the level-2 ADAS it comes equipped with. Now that our experts have had the chance to get behind the wheel of the Syros, here’s a rundown of how its ADAS features perform in real-world Indian traffic.
The adaptive cruise control system in the Syros works fluently, as it adjusts the speed progressively depending on the traffic ahead. It does not feel jerky or abrupt, so highway driving becomes more comfortable. The system also allows drivers to choose between four levels of the following distances, and the minimum setting maintains a gap of about two car lengths.
The AEB system operates correctly, sensing cars, pedestrians, and cyclists without any problems. When there is a likelihood of a collision, the system provides appropriate warnings before it applies the brakes. Braking is harsh with adequate warnings so that the driver can be aware.
Lane Keep Assist prevents the unintended leaving of the lane by pushing the steering wheel in the required direction. The system works more effectively on clearly marked lanes. It can steer through curves too. But again, it cannot replace manual steering, as a driver must watch over the operation of the system.
This feature is particularly useful in stop-and-go traffic. It alerts the driver when the vehicle ahead starts moving, helping reduce reaction time at traffic signals or in congestion.
To prevent driver fatigue, this system monitors steering input and lane-keeping behaviour. If signs of inattention are detected, an audio alert is triggered to prompt the driver to stay focused.
The ADAS suite on the Kia Syros includes features such as Forward Collision Warning, High Beam Assist, and Parking Collision Avoidance which also work nicely, complementing the overall safety of the Syros.
Designed with Kia’s new philosophy, the boxy quirky Syros comes so well loaded as to give SUVs in a segment or two above a run for their money. It gets a whole lot of features like 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment, a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display, a 5-inch touchscreen for climate control, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a wireless phone charger, a four-way power adjustable driver’s seat, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front and rear seats, an 8-speaker Harman/Kardon sound system and 64-colour ambient lighting.
Besides ADAS, it gets 6 standard airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control (ESC), tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), a dual dashcam setup, front, side and rear parking sensors, ISOFIX child seat mounts, a 360-degree camera and an electronic parking brake with auto hold for safety.
Here is a look at its powertrain specifications in detail:

The Syros competes with SUVs like Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV 3XO, Citroen Basalt, Maruti Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Nissan Magnite, and Kia Sonet. It also alternates larger SUVs like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and Honda Elevate.
The Kia Syros’ ADAS suite is more than just a gimmick – it works as intended, making driving more convenient and safer, particularly on highways and in urban traffic. While it doesn’t replace human attentiveness, it acts as a safety net, making daily commutes and long drives safer and less stressful. If you’re in the market for a feature-packed SUV with a strong focus on safety, the Syros is one to watch out for.
