The Syros will carry Kia’s new design philosophy and will be positioned between the Sonet and Seltos.

Kia is all geared up to expand and solidify its SUV lineup further in India, with the unveiling of a new product. The brand’s new offering, the Kia Syros, is set to be globally revealed tomorrow, featuring the Korean brand’s new design template introduced with the EV9. It will likely be positioned between the Sonet and Seltos, and will surely come with many modern amenities alongside a familiar Sonet-like powertrain setup.

In the next section, we have detailed all the things you can expect from this new Kia SUV ahead of its unveiling:

Kia Syros: Design

The upcoming Kia Syros has been teased multiple times, revealing major elements of its exterior design. We’ll wait until its launch tomorrow, for all the colour options, but we’ve already seen glimpses of the SUV in a blue and dark grey hue, which can make it to the final palette.

At the front, the Syros exudes a commanding look with the brand moniker placed on the bonnet nose just as other Kia SUVs. It is flanked by vertically stacked LED headlights which are complemented by vertical LED DRLs.

The profile shows a boxy, rugged silhouette, with flush-type door handles, body-coloured B-pillars, roof rails, and chunky silver body cladding. It will feature dual-tone alloy wheels, likely 16-inches, with a design similar to those on the EV9.

Kia Syros: Interior

Inside, the cabin of the Kia Syros is expected to feature a black/dark grey color scheme with accents of ambient lighting. The layout will likely be newly designed, distinct from the Sonet and Seltos, possibly drawing inspiration from the Carnival and EV9. However, the cabin will probably feature a sporty design, like other Kia SUVs.

Teasers revealed a two-spoke steering wheel and offered a glimpse of the touchscreen infotainment system. The steering wheel buttons suggested ADAS functionality, which is further confirmed by the new exterior teaser showcasing an ADAS module integrated into the front bumper. Additionally, the Syros will likely include a terrain mode selector, a drive mode selector, and a button for the voice assistant on the steering wheel, as indicated by the teaser.

It is also expected to come with leatherette seat upholstery and soft touch padding on the door armrests.

Kia Syros: Features

Kia hasn’t put light on the feature set of the Syros but from what could be deciphered from the teasers, the centre console shown shows a couple of buttons that indicate the Syros may boast a 360-degree camera and front parking sensors. We expect Kia to offer a 10.25-inch infotainment, an all-digital driver’s display, ventilated front seats, and connected car tech. Most notably, the latest teaser has once again confirmed a panoramic sunroof for the Syros.

Safety kit could comprise six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control (ESC), tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) and of course level-2 ADAS features like lane keep assist, autonomous emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control.

Kia Syros: Powertrain

The Kia Syros is expected to get two engine options: a 1-litre 3-cylinder turbo-petrol engine generating 120 PS and 172 Nm, and a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder diesel unit which churns out 116 PS and 250 Nm. Transmission options are likely to include a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic for the turbo-petrol, while the diesel variant will probably come with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic.

Kia Syros: Price And Rivals

The Kia Syros is expected to be priced starting from around Rs 9 lakh (ex-showroom). While it won’t have any direct competitors in India, it will compete with sub-compact and compact SUVs such as the Tata Nexon / Curvv, Hyundai Venue / Creta, Maruti Brezza / Grand Vitara and Mahindra XUV 3XO.
