KTM's tease with the 250 Adventure seems to be never-ending. Ever since photos of the bike undergoing testing in Pune were leaked, auto pundits have been waiting for scoop on the baby adventure motorcycle. A couple of "puny" slip-ups ended up exposing some details much before KTM would have liked. Well, we think the wait is about to get over real soon as select dealers have started accepting bookings for amounts as low as Rs 1,000 with a launch speculated as early as this month.
The 250 Adventure is likely to get the same 250cc mill seen on its streetfighter sibling and just like with 390 Adventure, the engine will remain in the same state of tune, producing 30PS and 24Nm. The bike misses out on a LED headlamp and going by the latest leaks, it gets a black and white display, though the styling remains similar to the 390.
Select dealerships have also confirmed that the 250 will miss out on traction control, quickshifter, and off-road ABS as well. The 250cc ADV bike runs on MRF rubbers like all other models in the family since the recent ban on imported tyres.
So, what’s keeping KTM from rolling out its cheapest adventure model in India? According to a dealer, the bike is undergoing certain RTO formalities and will be ready to lure budding riders by the end of this month. We expect it to be priced around Rs 2.40 lakh. So it will not only sit bang in between the Royal Enfield Himalayan and the BMW G 310 GS, but also allow riders who find the 390 expensive, to join the Orange brigade.
