The original Land Rover Defender was quite the icon in the auto industry with its boxy design and off-road credentials. The British carmaker is now furthering its rugged legacy, with the unveiling of the Defender Works V8 Trophy. Essentially a heavily modified special edition of the original icon, the Defender Works V8 Trophy pays homage to the Camel Trophy off-road competition, which was well known for having modified classic Defenders take on challenging terrains.
Offered in a mix of 90 and 110 body styles, it gets a retro-looking Eastnor Yellow body shade, complemented by black accents on the wheel arches, rear door, and the hood. Other notable styling bits include 16-inch steel wheels, LED headlamps, a heritage front grille, and a Land Rover Trophy badge. The retro look continues inside as well with black leather upholstery in contrasting yellow stitching, Recaro sports seats, and Land Rover Classic's infotainment system with integrated navigation and smartphone connectivity.
Under the hood, it is powered by a 405PS/515Nm 5.0-litre V8 petrol engine, paired to an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission. It gets upgrades to its suspension, steering and braking. Its off-road prowess has also been enhanced with a front winch, multi-point expedition cage, roof rack, underbody protection, A-bar, raised air intake, LED spotlights, and mud-terrain tyres.
This edition will be uber exclusive with only 25 production units priced from GBP 195,000 (Rs 1.96 crore) for the 90 body style. What’s more, customers will get their first taste of these special edition Defenders at an exclusive three-day off-road adventure at Eastnor Castle in Herefordshire.
