Gets a bunch of new connectivity features including WiFi Hotspot and Pro Services
Land Rover Discovery Sport

Land Rover has finally updated the Discovery Sport with model year 2018 in India. While the basic recipe remains the same, the 2018 model comes with a host of new connectivity features. These are WiFi Hotspot and Pro Services, which are embedded to the InControl Apps feature in the SUV’s infotainment system.

To create a WiFi Hotspot, Land Rover has equipped the Discovery Sport with a sim-card slot which, once connected to the internet, can get up to 8 devices online. This will enable passengers to at least stream music of their own taste.

Pro Services, on the other hand, enhances the SUV’s infotainment capabilities by delivering a more connected experience. Three key features that make Pro Services a more impactful addition are the Route Planner App, Commute Mode and Sharing ETA. Although Land Rover has tried to christen these additions as self explanatory, we choose to clear the air in any case.

The Route Planner App, which is available on the App Store and Google Play Store, helps the driver to navigate to the destination and sync routes with the on-board GPS navigation system. The Commute Mode adds the cherry on the cake for lost souls by learning a regular route and suggesting diversions in case of delays. As the name suggests, Sharing ETA means you can share regular updates with select contacts on expected time of arrival via SMS. This feature should come in handy for those who either want someone to keep a track on them, or for those who cannot fathom time-distance calculations.

Under the hood, the 2.0-litre Ingenium diesel mill is available in two states of tune - 150PS/382Nm and 179PS/430Nm. Out of the four variants available, only the HSE Luxury gets the higher tune. However, a 9-speed automatic transmission is offered as standard in all variants. In short, the updated Discovery Sport will surely click with those customers who look for a tech-savvy cockpit and want to be stalked on purpose.
