As part of its celebration of 50 years of the Range Rover, Land Rover has revealed details about the Range Rovers coming to India as MY21 models. It has also revealed details on what to expect for the Range Rover’s sportier sibling, the Range Rover Sport, for the 2021 model year. The MY21 Range Rover will be offered in six variants: S, SE, HSE, HSE Dynamic, Autobiography Dynamic and SVR. Aside from two petrol engines, the Range Rover Sport will have diesel engines return in the form of new Ingenium engines.

The new Ingenium diesel mill for India is a D300 3.0-litre six-cylinder mill that makes 300PS of power and 650Nm of torque with the help of a 48V mild-hybrid system. The first petrol engine on offer will be the P300 2.0-litre four cylinder motor making 300PS and 400Nm. The second option will be a P575 5.0-litre V8 supercharged mill, the most powerful petrol engine in the Range Rover Sport’s lineup. It makes 575PS of power and 700Nm of torque.

The Range Rover Sport remains relatively similar on the outside, with design highlights such as LED headlamps with DRLs, as well as LED tail lamps. Feature highlights include a 10-inch Touch Pro Duo touchscreen infotainment system, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity offered as standard across all models, and up to eight 4G Wi-Fi connections can be made via hotspot. Another nifty feature for the Range Rover Sport is a cabin air ionisation system with PM2.5 filtration.

The international MY21 models will also get three special edition models in the form of the HSE Silver, HSE Dynamic Black and SVR Carbon Edition. The HSE Silver gets Shadow Atlas exterior trim finishes, privacy glass and 21-inch Gloss Black and contrast diamond-turned alloy wheels fitted as standard. The HSE Dynamic Black gets blacked-out 21-inch alloy wheels, privacy glass and an all-black interior. The SVR Carbon Edition gets carbon fibre inserts around areas such as the bonnet centre section, front bumper surrounds, main grille and vent surrounds, and engine cover. It also gets 22-inch blacked out alloys and carbon black themed interior upholstery.

Back home, Land Rover retails the Range Rover Sport at a price range of Rs 87.02 lakh to Rs 1 crore (ex-showroom). Expect the MY21 Range Rover Sport to launch at a premium owing to the updates on offer. A launch date for the updated Range Rover Sport is yet to be revealed, but we expect it to happen towards the end of this year.  Rivals include the Mercedes-Benz GLS, the Volvo XC90 and the upcoming 2020 Audi Q7.
