Maserati is as Italian as it gets, and the luxury carmaker can be credited with some of the better looking automobiles of recent times. The Levante is Maserati’s first and only SUV and it is available in our country with a diesel engine. If that doesn't cut it for you, the Italian giant has confirmed the Levante Trofeo for the Indian market. Destined for launch by the end of this year, India is one of the first countries to get the right hand drive version of this SUV.
The Trofeo is the range-topping version of the Levante. Lurking under its hood is a Ferrari-derived twin-turbocharged 3.8-litre V8 that is good for 590PS and 730Nm of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels via an 8-speed gearbox and the Levante Trofeo can sprint from 0-100kmph in 3.9 seconds, with a top whack exceeding 300kmph. For some reference, the Lamborghini Urus takes 3.6 seconds to hit 100kmph along with a top speed of 305kmph. The Levante Trofeo also happens to be one of the most powerful cars from the trident stable.
Differentiating the Levante Trofeo from the standard version are various bits including a restyled lower front fascia, rear bumper, carbon fibre lower splitter and inserts in the air intakes and side skirts. Overall, the SUV screams its sporty intentions and it is the same story inside too. It gets dedicated sports seats with special ‘Pieno Fiore’ natural leather and ‘Trofeo’ embossing on the headrests.
It also comes with 22-inch wheels and various carbon fibre inserts like the engine cover, which looks absolutely drool-worthy.
The Levante Trofeo has a perfect 50:50 weight distribution and also comes with a new Corsa driving mode with launch control along with the existing normal, I.C.E.( Increased Control and Efficiency), sport and off road. The SUV also features a 17-speaker Bowers & Wilkins sound system along with a touchscreen infotainment unit with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support.
The Maserati Levante Trofeo will lock horns with the Mercedes-AMG GLE63, the BMW X5M, and Range Rover Sport SVR. Moving on to the big question, we expect it to be priced around the 2.5 crore (ex-showroom) mark. The top-spec standard version of the Levante currently comes with a sticker price tag of Rs 1.54 crores (ex-showroom, Mumbai).
