Mercedes-Benz's first front-wheel drive car, the B-Class will soon make its debut in India

While the car looks extremely similar to its previous generation it steals a part of its design from the R-Class which is currently on sale in the Indian market.

The car looks spanking new as far as the styling bit is concerned with just enough lines and cuts on the doors and the trademarked three-line grille in the front. The inside will be totally equipped with the design of the dash getting its genes from the SLS and the new CLS. Mercedes claims the car to live up to the standards of the new C-Class

An all-new Mercedes-Benz B-Class, coming soon to India

The power plants of the B-Class will be an amalgamation of new and old engines in both Petrol and Diesel plants. The car will churn power with a 1.8-litre engine, which will be a toned down version of the C-Class engine. Meanwhile, the petrol version will also make its debut, which will also host a 1.8-litre heart. The new B will supposedly have a seven-speed twin-clutch gearbox (7G-DCT).

While the B-Class will look like a union of a large hatch and a mini-MPV (Multi-purpose vehicle), it will definitely be a segment starter in India. The price of the car in most likelihood should start at Rs. 18 lakh. In a country like India, where MPVs are not highly considered by buyers, Mercedes may find it difficult to penetrate the market with the B-Class, and it will be interesting to see what approach German car manufacturer chooses in order to do that effectively.
