The Buddh International Circuit (BIC) besides playing host to the Indian Grand Prix each year has become the preferred playground for the country’s most extreme sports cars and high performance automobiles. Among other members of the super league is the formidable Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, which on a recent sprint at the BIC set the fastest lap by any production car on the circuit till date.
Ace German driver and AMG driving instructor Norman Simon set an astounding lap time of 2 minutes 14.521 in the SLS AMG, that has now regained its title of being the fastest production car on the 5.125km international race track located near Greater Noida.
Proud of this tremendous achievement by the SLS AMG at the Buddh circuit Eberhard Kern, Managing Director and CEO, Mercedes-Benz India: “We are extremely thrilled with the feat the SLS AMG accomplished on the Buddh International Circuit. The car has proved its mettle time and time again across major racing tracks of the world and it is only fitting that in India too, it holds the title of the fastest lap achieved by a production car.”
“Mercedes-Benz has a very dominant presence in the racing and motorsports arena, and this lineage is evident in our vehicle design and technology, both performance and aesthetics. The SLS AMG is the epitome of these elements making it the best in sportiness and fascination that Mercedes-Benz offers,” he added.
The SLS AMG, which is incidentally also the Official Safety Car for the Formula 1 Grand Prix Championships is built on an aluminium space-frame body. Its AMG 6.3-litre V8 front mid-engine produces 571PS and 650 nm of torque. Like its former achievements the SLS AMG’s feat at the Buddh International Circuit (BIC) would once again leave a lasting impression on supercar enthusiasts pan India.
