As ZigWheels exclusively broke the news to overwhelming response a few weeks ago, Mercedes-Benz intends to bring in their whole range of AMG cars to India in 2014. The first car to make its debut though will be the highly acclaimed SLK 55 AMG. The two seater, hard top convertible will be powered by a 5.5 Litre naturally aspirated V8 engine that churns out 421PS power and 540Nm of peak torque.
AMG, which is Mercedes-Benz’s performance division has mastered the art of tuning their everyday road cars into V8-powered monsters capable of enthralling every single automotive enthusiast with it’s loud and powerful cars. The Mercedes Benz SLK 55 AMG will be Merc’s third AMG this year adding to the G63 SUV and E63 Sedan it launched earlier in the year.
Differentiating itself from the standard SLK 350, the AMG version will have reworked front bumper with larger air intakes, wider wheel arches to provide room for bigger wheels and brakes, a reworked rear bumper with an integrated diffuser and a subtle boot spoiler. The trademark AMG ‘quad pipe exhaust’ is also present to make sure the AMG does not get mixed up with the standard car. The retractable hard top features the same sky control setup like the regular car. On the interior front, the SLK 55 AMG will get sportier seats and carbon fibre trim on the dashboard.
The SLK 55 AMG will go up against the likes of the Porsche Cayman, the Jaguar F Type, the BMW Z4 and the Jaguar F Type and is expected to cost between Rs 1.00-1.40 Crores. Stay tuned to ZigWheels.com for exclusive launch pictures and our first driving impressions.
