On sale for over 8 years, with thousands of units on the road already, the Audi Q7, the flagship and highly sought after luxury SUV, finally gets a complete revamp. The 2016 Audi Q7’s price in India is Rs 72 lakh which was announced at an exclusive launch party in New Delhi.
Being an all-new model, the design of the new Q7 has also evolved from its predecessor, as it has now become lower and appears a bit compact than before. It retains Audi’s signature hexagonal grille and sleek headlights with DRLs, which give it a familiar face. In profile it seems lower and more estate like now, but this has improved aerodynamics and makes this large SUV more slippery than before.
Audi car models are known for their cabin quality, and the 2016 Audi Q7 has improved this further. There’s top quality material all around and craftsmanship is impeccable. In terms of equipment, the car comes standard with a virtual cockpit LCD screen that replaces the conventional dials, a four zone climate controls and a MMI navigation pack. The new Audi Q7 also comes with a Bose 3D audio system and an Audi auto drive system with auto park assist and 360 degree surround camera.
The new Q7 is built on a modern lightweight platform, which drops the overall weight by 325 kg as compared to the outgoing model. The new suspension system, low kerb weight and slightly smaller dimensions would make the 2016 Audi Q7 far more nimble and probably more fun to drive too.
For now the Audi has introduced the 2016 Q7 with a more powerful 3.0-litre diesel engine option, which churns out 252PS of power and 600Nm of torque. Despite the hike in power, the motor is said to be more fuel efficient, claiming an increase of 28 percent over the outgoing model.
The new Audi Q7 is now available in company showroom across India in the following variants:
